THE BAND

Ken Jolly

Guitarist/Vocalist Ken Jolly's love affair with music started early, as he played with local bands during high school in the New England area. One of the bands opened for national acts and recorded a single which had regional success.

After a stint in the military, Ken worked with local funk and soul bands in New England. He moved to Florida in the mid '70s, where he played with local Southern rock bands, many of which opened for nationally known artists. Ken relocated to Las Vegas in the late '70s and worked as a stage musician at the legendary Aladdin Hotel, playing guitar behind a who's who of entertainers of the era.

After a European tour with a national act, Ken relocated to Clarksville, Tennessee, where he has been actively playing and entertaining since the early '80s.

Enter the Nightmasters, an ensemble that started as a fun weekend jam with friends, grew its own legs, and brought the band to where they are today. Ken is proud to be a founding member of this project, and he continues working toward expanding the Nightmasters' audience and fan base, and playing larger venues and festival dates to share the music.

The band's next project is recording and releasing a CD of its core material of covers and original music and bringing the Nightmasters to a stage near you!

Guitar/Vocals

Sam Haines

A seasoned acoustic and electric guitar veteran and vocalist, Sam started his musical career as a teenager, playing in country, pop and rock cover bands.

His influences range from early Memphis, Muscle Shoals and Motown to traditional country, groove-oriented funk, British Invasion rock and a multitude of other genres.

Through the years, Sam has worked with numerous bands and songwriters.

"I've always been more comfortable as a part of an ensemble." But don't let that fool you - Sam can easily entertain an audience with just an acoustic guitar, though his heart is with the Nightmasters.

"We go way back, the five of us. But we never all worked together until early 2015. I've never experienced a synergy like Nightmasters. The grooves that Isaac and Tim lay down are inspiring, Jon ices the cake, and Ken and I have a real musical connection. We all work together to make the most of the songs - and we have a blast while we're at it! It's a thrill to work with these guys. I hope we can continue to unite and conquer!"

Guitar/Vocals

Isaac Frost

The newest member of Nightmasters, Isaac began his musical career at age 15, learning to play the fiddle while recuperating from a broken leg sustained in a 4-wheeler accident.  While that instrument might have ended up by the wayside, he soon turned his attention to the bass where his talent is undeniable.  A multi-instrumentalist, he also plays guitar and drums.

"My dad bought a Jimi Hendrix album and Derek and the Domino's album and told me "Play like that and you'll be headed in the right direction.  Influences are all around you. Sometimes you just have to listen."

Issac has performed with a multitude of acts including American Floyd, Brother Ryan & Co, Tim Lynch, Jeff Smith, Lone Waite, The Highlights, Backlot Pickers, The Hell You Say, and Sammy and the Fornicators, as well as frequently joining the band as an "Honorary Nightmaster" before being tapped to become the band's full-time bassist in May, 2017.  When asked how he feels about joining the group, Isaac (the band's youngest member) said:

"I feel like I just joined an AARP circus! But it is nice jamming with guys that have more experience than me. It's how you improve."

When not honing his musical skills and (razor sharp wit),  Isaac enjoys long walks on the beach and alpaca ranching.

Bass/Vocals

Tim Seay

Tim has worked with Ken Jolly on many projects dating back to 1979. He has played with Sam Haines since the mid-'80s and Alan Goins since the mid-'90s. Timing has allowed this group of very close, talented friends the opportunity to share with an audience well over 100 years combined experience in the music industy.

Tim got his first set of drums (and not toy drums!) when he was six years old. He played in jazz and marching band in high school and after one semester of college was hired by the band "Gibraltar" (Elektra/Asylum) in 1980. Tim moved to Nashville six months later and made music his full-time occupation. Gibraltar cut everything at the late Cowboy Jack Clement's legendary studio. Jack befriended Tim and helped opened many doors for him in the Nashville music scene.

Tim has been fortunate enough to work with notables including Roger Miller, Asleep at theWheel, Bobby Bradford, Clinton Gregory, Tracy Lawrence , Dean Hall, Steeling First, and American Floyd, to name a few.

"Putting Ken Jolly, Sam Haines, Isaac Frost, Jon Hassell, and myself on the stage after all these years just works, and we have a blast entertaining a following that has grown beyond our expectations.  Something full circle rolls quite well!"

Drums/Vocals

Jon Hassell

The final piece of the Nightmasters puzzle, Jon 's skillful keyboard playing, smoking harmonica and strong vocals round out the band's sound. His musical versatility comes from a lifetime of honing his skills in a plethora of styles. He adds his own brand of soul to the band and his ready wit and onstage humor are a favorite with Nightmasters' fans.

"I'm blessed to have received a fraction of my father's musical ability. He started me on drums when I was five."

Jon immersed himself in drumming, playing his first professional gig at ten years of age. At age 17, his brother presented him with a keyboard and Jon made it his mission to learn to play it.  To say he succeeded is a vast understatement.  His mastery of the instrument is immediately apparent to Nightmasters' audiences.

Jon originally sat in with the band during the Sunday blues jam, but it wasn't long before it became clear he brought something special to the mix and he was soon a full-fledged Nightmaster.

Jon lends his vocals to some of the band's favorite tunes and his harmonica and keyboard work is indispensable.

Keyboards/Harmonica/Vocals

Henry Rives

Multi-instrumentalist, Henry Rives, lends his many talents to the band on saxophone, vocals, flute, harmonica, and bagpipes(!)   The youngest member of Nightmasters, Henry brings an extra element of musicianship and variety to the band.  We couldn't be happier to showcase his incredible range, and versatility in Nightmasters' repertoire of blues, rock and funk .
